Why not come and buy some fresh strawberries and then try this recipe for strawberry sorbet;
Ingredients
about 1kg/2¼lb fresh strawberries
250g/9oz icing sugar
100ml/3fl oz lemon (juice of approx two large lemons)
Method
Crush the strawberries and rub through a nylon sieve to extract the seeds. Stir in the lemon juice then whisk in the icing sugar. Pour into a working ice cream machine and churn until frozen. If you don t have a machine an easy way to make this, and other sorbets, is to freeze your sweetened strawberry juice in a tray and scratch it up into frosty shards when almost solid. Then return to the freezer for an hour or so before serving. This is what Italians would call a granita. The texture is a little more crunchy than a sorbet but is still wonderful. |
